Is cash considered real or personal property in a judgment proceeding?

I may end up having a judgment filed against me but I have almost no ets but I do have some money in my checking account (less than $1000). In NM there is an exemption for either a homestead or if you don't own one, an exemption of real and or personal property for up to $5000.00. I'm trying to figure out if they can go after the little money in my checking account
