Handbreak Not Working on Toshiba Tecra 8200 Laptop?

As i said above, i am having some problems with handbrake, the free dvd encrypter. I have a Toshiba Tecra 8200 Laptop that is made by Windows. Handbrake does work with Windows, i checked on their website. I will insert the DVD (mean girls, in my case) and i will do the source and all that, then when i click start, it takes about a full day (24 hours) to 'encode'. Then, when i copy the movie file into my itunes, the movie is only like 40 minutes and it is mostly just green color. I have 512 RAM and all the other necessary requirements. Does anyone know what my problem could be? Answers are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
