Why is marijuana considered a drug?

weed was not considered a drug untill the late seventys when governent couldnt profit from it they made it a drug..its a dam plant?..but on the other hand most drugs are derived from plants.like cocaine the coco plant. but.on the other hand as long as its not altered it is not a drug..weed can be also alterd to hashish or pure thc...but hey if its bud then id say no its not.its phycho active but its still a plant..canabissteve
