Do you know if microwaved food is radioactive or not?

We have a microwave in our house but my husband doesn't allow me to use it because he likes homecooked meals, but if I am at my mother's he will use it to heat things up with. My friend came over tonight with her little children so we could all watch Chronicles of Narnia and she wanted brought over some microwave popcorn and I was too scared to eat it and wasn't happy about her kids eating it because I heard microwaves produce radiation. I mean its one thing for my husband to eat things from a microwave but not petite women like me or little children, right? My mom tought me that women who used microwaves were lazy and that it was radioactive food and it poisons their family.
